Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Wednesday, June 19.

Barron chooses Rangers

Connor Barron is reportedly set to to join Rangers this summer.

The midfielder has been on the radar at Swansea City ever since a failed bid back in January, but a move has looked increasingly unlikely over the last few weeks, with interest mounting in his signature.

Cardiff City, Bologna, Hellas Verona, Stoke City and Plymouth Argyle were among the other clubs to have shown an interest this summer, with Barron a free agent after his contract at Aberdeen expired.

However, it appears he will now be moving to Ibrox, with Rangers Review claiming that Barron has now decided to become Philippe Clement's fourth signing of the summer.

Swans 'going global' in transfer search

Luke Williams says Swansea City are set to cast their net across the globe as they look for new recruits this summer.

The club have been buoyed by the success of Brazilian winger Ronald, who made a hugely positive impact following his arrival in January. Now, Williams believes there are other hidden gems that could be unearthed.

“We are looking at the UK market for sure, but we are looking at the European and even the global market,” he told the BBC.

“There are fantastic players [out there] who would suit us down to the ground and would tick every box. We will try to source those players.

“There is not an abundance of proven Championship players [on our list] because there are big sharks circling in that tank. That’s absolutely fine.”

Allen - We have to be consistent

Joe Allen says Swansea City need to show greater consistency if they are to build on the foundations laid by Luke Williams last term.

A difficult season yielded precious little in terms of joy for the Swans, although there was at least a sensational South Wales derby victory over Cardiff City to toast during what was a largely encouraging second half the campaign.

Midfielder Allen was among the players who returned to Fairwood recently for training and testing ahead of pre-season preparations next month, and says finding a level of consistency in performance will be essential for their efforts next season.

“The gaffer has really stressed that point, that has to be the benchmark that we build from,” Allen said.

“People may feel that it’s natural to have a little extra intensity and aggression around a derby game, as professional players there is no excuse not to be like that week in and week out.

“I am sure supporters would agree with that, so it is on us as players to approach every game – and while you cannot win every game and match, or perform to your best every match – there is absolutely no reason why you cannot have that intensity, aggression and energy going into every game.”

Cooper closing in on Leicester job

Leicester have reportedly switched their focus to former Swansea City boss Steve Cooper after talks with Graham Potter broke down.

Potter, another ex-Swans employee, has been out of work since leaving Chelsea back in April 2023, and was initially a leading contender to replace Enzo Maresca at the King Power Stadium.

According to The Guardian, Talks had initially progressed reasonably well. However, negotiations have since collapsed.

Now, they are believed to be in advanced talks with Cooper, who has been available since he was dismissed by Nottingham Forest in December, and the 44-year-old is now expected to take the job.
