Yahoo News UK weather: As Europe sizzles from Lucifer, British temperature to be 25C lower
While Europeans are sizzling in a fiery heatwave, Brits are being left in the cold as summer has taken a turn for the worse.
Most of the continent is basking in temperatures in the 30s and 40s but the UK is preparing for a mini cold spell.
In fact, Britain is set to be a staggering 25C COLDER than the rest of the continent over the next few days.
Some forecasters are even advising people to put the heating on as temperatures in some parts of the country are set to drop to single figures.
Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna told MailOnline: “Be prepared for everything in the days ahead. People will certainly need a jacket at least for the rain.”
A freak summer frost has descended on parts of Scotland which has seen summer frost in the Highlands, and rain moving in this week, according to the Met Office.
STV weather presenter Sean Batty said: “It’s a summer chill out. Get the heating on.”
The rest of the country is hardly cracking out the sun cream either – highs of 18C are predicted in some parts of Britain today – around 3C lower than the August average.

It also puts us some 25C cooler than places like southern France, Spain and Italy – where temperatures have reached 43C during the ‘Lucifer’ heatwave.
Thankfully summer isn’t over just yet as the Weather Outlook predicts warmer and drier weather after next weekend.
The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: “It’s a case of ‘Cool Britannia’ while Europe roasts.
“It’s mediocre for the UK now with showers or longer spells of rain for all regions.
“But there are signs of warmer and more settled conditions through the middle third of August.”
The ‘Lucifer’ heatwave has given Europe its hottest summer since 2003 – but is also thought to be responsible for the deaths of five people.
