Following Meeting With King of Spain, Obama Urges Country Stay United

President Obama congratulated King Felipe VI of Spain for his country’s response to the European migrant crisis, and said he was committed to maintaining a relationship with a united country, in advance of a referendum in which Catalonia’s voters may say they want independence. Spain’s king and queen will visit St. Augustine, Florida, on Friday to celebrate its 450th anniversary as the first Spanish colonial presence in the northern hemisphere.

The visit was the Spanish king’s first since Obama has been in office. Credit: YouTube/The White House
