'Why would you want to look plain on a plane?': Piers Morgan fumes over Virgin Atlantic scrapping compulsory make-up for female cabin crew

Piers Morgan caused outrage in the Good Morning Britain studio today as he hit out at Virgin Atlantic for scrapping compulsory make-up for their female cabin crew.

The airline shared its new styling rules on Monday, stating flight attendants can now choose to go without make-up, but they are still welcome to wear lipstick of the company’s colours.

“Women wear make-up because most women like wearing make-up,” he began, which prompted co-host Susanna Reid to shout in frustration: “Yes, but it should be voluntary.”

“Not one of the equality jobs, is it? You don’t like getting your faces dirty down the coal mines, but we give you these plum jobs on airlines and what do you do? ‘I don’t want to wear make-up. I want to look plain’. Why? Why do you want to look plain on a plane?

“Plain on a plane is not a sales pitch I want for cabin crew. Just put some damn make-up on and stop whining about it.

He added: “I don’t want to wear make-up, but I have to. ITV require me to. They don’t want the British public to be exposed to my real head.

“And I agree with them. No one should see my real head, and I don’t want to see real heads on cabin crew. I want to see beautiful fantasy faces, male and female.”
