Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen have reportedly started to look for a new home on the south coast of Devon. The former England captain was appointed as the new manager of Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (May 25) on a three-year deal, following his stint at Birmingham City.

The football legend shared his first words as the club's head coach during Saturday's FA Cup Final match between his old team Manchester United and rivals Manchester City. Talking to Gary Lineker, he said he was 'really excited' about his new role, adding that there would be 'a lot of work' before the start of the next season.

And now, according to The Sun and The Daily Mail, it seems Rooney and his wife Coleen are already making plans as part of the next chapter in the star's career. They've reportedly started searching for a new home on Devon's south coast, particularly eyeing up properties in and around Salcombe.

Located east of Plymouth, it would take the new Argyle head coach less than an hour to travel to Home Park Stadium. The couple currently reside in a £20 million mansion in Cheshire, which they've called home for just over a year.

The rural six bedroom family home is said to be nestled behind a lake and spans 40 acres of countryside. It also boasts a snooker room, home cinema, indoor swimming pool, underground spa, wine cellar, a stable area with space for 14 horses, and a football pitch for their four sons, the Daily Mail reports.

On his appointment, Rooney said: "Taking this role at Plymouth Argyle feels like the perfect next step in my career and I would like to thank the chairman and board for the faith they have shown in me. This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting project. I look forward to helping to build a squad of players to play expansive football and to entertain the Green Army.

"I have experienced first-hand how talented the existing group of players is here and also the incredible atmosphere at Home Park. The club is on an exciting long-term journey, with a progressive plan in place. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of it. I can't wait for the Championship season to start in August."
