Sofiane Feghouli is looking better and better with every game.

It is fair to say that Sofiane has taken time to settle. He was injured in pre-season and was out for some time. Then he struggled to adjust but in the past seven or so weeks he has been training really well.

I know there has been speculation that he could be leaving us in this transfer window but I certainly want him to stay.

There are no guarantees for anyone but if he continues to play like this, Sofiane will be in my team.

It is also tougher, I believe, for offensive players to adjust to a new league in a different country.

I was a defender and I didn’t need a lot of time when I came to England but with strikers it’s different. Sometimes the physicality presents a different challenge and, of course, they need the service. Even Dennis Bergamp and Thierry Henry needed time.

That is why I am sad for Simone Zaza. It didn’t work out here for him but he is a good player and I wish him well.

In the first few games it didn’t go well for Zaza and then only the situation with his contract, where we had to sign him permanently for a big fee after a certain number of games, blocked us from giving him time to adjust to the Premier League. Sometimes circumstances dictate decisions.
