Woore secured their first success of the NSSCL Division Four season in their home clash against Church Eaton.

It has been a tricky start to the summer schedule for Woore, but they finally sampled the winning feeling with a four-wicket triumph.

Church Eaton had Sam Pedley to thank to guiding them to 131 all out in the first half of the contest.

Pedley hit five fours in his 52, with Matthew Burslem (25) and Henry Smith (18) also chipping in to good effect.

Lauren Kenvyn (4-20) took the bowling plaudits for Woore, backed up by double strikes from Amy Griffiths, Michael Griffiths and Martin Harper.

Matt White captured 3-15 in Woore’s chase, but the home side were not to be denied.

Michael Griffiths fronted their successful quest with an unbeaten 48. Support came from Michael Burton (28) and Amy Griffiths (18).

Knypersley are also off the mark as they ended a run of six straight defeats to win a tense encounter at home against Kidsgrove.

Mitchell Edwards was in fine fettle for Knype early on as he compiled an unbeaten 125 to orchestrate their progress to 194-6 from their 40 overs.

Edwards struck 14 fours and four sixes in his knock, while Jack Muni weighed in with 26. James Green took 4-34.

Kidsgrove openers Christian Barber and Ryan Davis both made 50 in their side’s post-tea response.

And with Ben Bennett adding 32, they looked to be on course for the points.

Knypersley did battle back, but Grove required three runs to win with two wickets remaining.

However, Knypersley seconds had one last push in them and managed to dismiss their visitors for 193 to clinch a one-run win.

Jack Baker and Toby Fallows finished with 4-40 and 4-44 respectively, while the other two scalps went to Lee Fallows.

Leaders Eccleshall 2nd XI are 14 points clear after securing a sixth win in seven matches - this time at Moddershall & Oulton fourths.

Jonathan Bramall’s 83 not out underpinned Eccleshall’s 201-6 from 40 overs.

Bramall hit eight fours and four sixes, with Tom Hibbert (43) and Dave Ecclestone (29) also playing their parts.

Luke Evans and Joseph Walley took a couple of wickets apiece.

Alfie Womble fronted the Modd men’s reply with 57, which featured seven boundaries.

Alex Quaintance (30) and Walley (20) did their best to keep the hosts in touch, but the challenge proved too much.

They eventually closed on 144-6 as Ben Thomas helped himself to 3-24.

Ashcombe Park seconds had a fine day on the road as they returned from their Little Stoke counterparts with an easy victory.

Charlie Knott’s 53, which included nine fours, Rich Knott’s 49 and 43 from Steve Proffitt, led Ashcombe Park to 188-6 in the first half.

James Murphy was the pick of the Little Stoke attack, taking 4-23. Evan Bradford batted through for 21 not out in reply, but Little Stoke were dismissed for 83.

Joe Alcock scooped 3-6 and double strikes came from Keith Hallam, Grant Roberts and Aidan Derbyshire.

Oakamoor 2nd XI were five-wicket winners at home against Sandon.

Visitors Sandon could only muster 90 all out as Mike Worthington took 4-8.

Oakamoor then had few issues in knocking off the runs as Gary Wright constructed an unbeaten 34.

Silverdale seconds won by the same margin at home against Alsager.

Dale were set 162 for victory - and had almost four overs left when they crossed the winning line.

Sam James’ 90 not out was key to that effort, an innings which contained nine fours and one six.

Paul Pickford had earlier made 39 and Dave Kelly added 38 in Alsager’s 161-8.

Matt Smith took 3-29 and there were a couple of wickets for Luke Trafford.
