Zara McDermott opens up on boyfriend Sam Thompson's I'm A Celebrity bromance

What did you miss?

Zara McDermott has weighed in on her boyfriend Sam Thompson’s bromance with his I’m A Celebrity campmate Tony Bellew, saying the boxer has a “special place” in Thompson’s heart.

Made In Chelsea star Thompson and former pro boxer Bellew have palled up in the jungle camp, and viewers have been charmed by their friendship. McDermott – who was a contestant on Strictly this year – opened up about their relationship during an appearance on ITV's This Morning.

"Sam is so good at finding someone he knows he can wind up, just that little bit," she told hosts Emma Willis and Rylan. "But he will never push him too far, but he will just teeter on the edge. I think Tony absolutely adores him, I really do."

The Love Island star said she was sure that Thompson and Bellew would really miss each other when their days in the camp come to an end. But she said she thought they would stay in touch. "I think Sam will build some really strong bonds in there and I think he will value everyone he meets, but I think Tony has got a special place in his heart," she said.

McDermott also told of her pride at former Celebrity Big Brother star Thompson opening up about how he was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) not long ago. He told his campmates he could struggle with things such as listening and time-keeping, saying that "when the low bits happen it goes low".

Discussing it on This Morning, McDermott said: "I think he has grown a lot since Big Brother and I think, he is now 31, he has come such a long way in like, personal growth. And I think seeing him open up about his ADHD has made everyone, especially his family and me, so proud.

"I think it’s such a difficult thing to talk openly about because there are so many personal struggles that go alongside ADHD and a lot of kind of self-confusion, like, why am I not like someone else? He looks at me and thinks, why can I not listen like you? And why do I not think like you? But there are so many beautiful things that come alongside ADHD and I think that we’ve seen that in the jungle."
