Great Grandmother Escapes Care Home to Get Heart Tattoo

A great-grandmother escaped her care home to get herself her first ever tattoo…such a bad-ass.

79-year-old Sadie from Londonderry, Northern Ireland, stunned her son, Tony, by sneaking out to the nearby Studio Seventy-Six tattoo parlour.

Aided in her scheme by her grand-daughter, Samantha, Sadie got a heart tattoo on her left shoulder.

She said: ‘When you get to my age, you just have to live life to the full every day.

‘I was talking about it with Samantha for a couple of weeks and she showed me hers. She came in one day after her holiday and I just thought: “Well I’ll get one too”.

‘I’m absolutely made up with mine. I asked the fella how long it would take and he said it had finished five minutes ago. I never felt a thing. He just laughed at me.’

When Sadie was asked what her family would think of the tattoo, the retired civil servant left other customers stunned when she replied: ‘I don’t f***ing care’.

Her son, Tony, 57, said: ‘She’s been in the care home for about a year now and she’s only been out twice before, both times with my daughter.

‘I came in and there was no-one in the room but her wheelchair was there and the zimmer was gone. It was about 3pm and I thought she might be getting dinner, or in the TV room or out in the garden for a walk.

‘I thought it was a bit weird but I tried not to worry. There was no sign of her but the staff said Samantha had been up and they’d gone into town.’

Grand-daughter Samantha got a matching tattoo out of solidarity…now that is inter-generational bonding for you.
