Robot Breaks World Record and Solves Rubik's Cube in Three Seconds

The ‘Cubestormer 3’ robot broke a world record on March 15 solving a Rubik’s Cube in a very impressive 3.25 seconds. The robot showed off its skills at the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and was the result of 18 months of effort by co-inventors David Gilday and Mike Dobson who worked on the project in their spare time.

The robot uses an ARM-powered Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone to act as the brain of the robot and analyse the cube and instruct four robotic hands to do the hard work physical manipulation. Credit: Vin Sharma
