5 Times Chris Noth Proved He Was The Perfect ‘Mr Big’ in Sex and the City

Sex and the City creator Darren Star recently confessed that he originally had Alec Baldwin in mind when casting for the role of ‘Mr Big’. Since learning this I’ve rekindled my love affair with the show and realised that no-one else could ever have been better in this role then Chris Noth. Here are 5 times where 'Big’ has been pretty epic in his now iconic TV role.

1. When he would just happen to ‘swing by’ Carrie’s apartment in his limo

Arriving at just the right time, Big was always there in his flashy limo to give Carrie that trademark smirk and some witty one liners. Carrie: “Wanna come up?” Big: “Abso-f#*king-lutely.”

2. When he won the girls over in the final TV episode of SATC

In ‘An American girl in Paris’ it was Mr Big who won the hearts of Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha before jetting off to rescue Carrie from ‘The Russian’ Aleksandr Petrovsky. Miranda famously tells him “Go get our girl!” after Big confesses that he should never have let Carrie go.

3. When he’s the most romantic

Sure, they’ve had their ups and downs but Carrie and Big also have some seriously swoonworthy scenes together. Chris Noth portrays the role of Big amazingly well and effortlessly switches on the charm - showing just why Carrie has fallen in love with this, ahem…. ‘larger than life’ character. This is highlighted especially well when they talk weddings in the Sex and the City movie. “Ever thine, ever mine, ever ours”.

4. When he completely understood and accepted Carrie for who she was

Carrie and Sarah Jessica Parker herself are extremely fashion and style focused. When Chris Noth plays the role of Mr Big so perfectly that he just completely ‘gets’ Carrie, it is an absolute joy to watch. Who else would love a pair of Manolo Blahniks as an engagement gift?

5. When they had the best chemistry ever

If there is one thing that kept viewers tuning in for more, it was the on-screen chemistry between Carrie and Big. Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth had the perfect mix of funny, sexy and serious scenes and their mutual appreciation for each-other really shone through.

I can’t imagine anyone else playing Mr Big now - can you?
