Six Things You Should Avoid Ordering At Fast Food Restaurants

Most of us don’t even think about what we’re about to stuff our faces with when we order some naughty fast food - but it appears we should do.

A thread on Reddit has highlighted some of the menu options that should be avoided - as revealed by the people who work in the restaurants.

Now some of these are just plain disgusting but others should be shunned because they just annoy the staff.

And we wouldn’t want to do that - even if we are aching for a triple Big Mac.

Here are six of the food truths that have been exposed by fast food and pub workers that you’ll either want to know or choose to ignore…

Starbucks

Steamed milk is not a good idea, according to umnumnumnz, who revealed: “After every use, we were required to let the steamer run for two seconds before steaming more milk. However, during the “rush” periods, your mostly 16-25 year old baristas will either forget to let the nozzle run, or will run it for a moment with a towel soaked in sanitary fluid draped over it. So most likely there is either hours-old milk or sanitary fluid in your latte.”

KFC

It may taste lush but chicken gravy sounds pretty disgusting, if you are to believe former worker JoeyBosa, who claimed: “It is primarily made of the filthy oil that stores up at the bottom of the cookers over the day and is then served to customers the next day.”

McDonald’s

Filet O’ Fish is not one of the most popular things to order at Maccie D’s - and it seems as though you should continue avoiding it. Reddit user blakjak852 said: “I used to work at McDonald’s. Don’t order our fish patties. No one ever does and I swear some days we’d make a batch and it would sit there all day until someone ordered some.”

Wetherspoons

Poached eggs. Don’t order them. Adapech explained: “My friend used to work at Wetherspoons and you NEVER want to eat their poached eggs, they come in a plastic cup and they just are popped out and microwaved.”

Burger King

Chicken tenders, grilled chicken sandwiches or salads - not because they are dirty but because you’ll be waiting a long time. shmandameyes wrote: “I remember that the tenders took forever to cook and we didn’t really make them that often, so most times they were made to order. Same for the grilled chicken.”

Subway

Tuna sandwiches are a no-no, apparently. Unless you’re more into may than fish. Karmavirus revealed: “Tuna sandwiches. 80% mayonnaise.”.

All fast-food restaurants

All those secret menus you keep hearing about? They sound brilliant, right? Don’t order them - the staff will either be very confused or hate you for asking for something off-menu. Rps_killerwhale said: “Most people working don’t know how to make it and you’ll probably just receive a giant glob of assorted ingredients on a bun.”
