A Pregnant Woman Sums Up Fertility Struggle With Moving Photo

After learning she had conceived, a woman named Macy Lynn has followed the trend for posting a public announcement on social media.

Though unlike many other mums-to-be hers isn’t a snap of her baby bump or ecstatic couples selfie - it’s one documenting her infertility struggles.

The powerful image shared to Instagram, along with a making-of photo, captures a tiny babygrow printed with the words ‘Worth the wait and wait and wait’ along with the medicine and syringes used in her successful round of IVF.

Alongside the initial photo of her IVF treatments she writes: “This is from one, yes ONE, round of IVF.”

The finished photo shows the needles and pills shaped into a heart.

Over on her blog, Martinis and Medicine in a post called A Work of A.R.T | Our Rainbow Baby she details what inspired her to create the photo revealing the extent of her infertility struggles and her empathy with fellow mums who are struggling to conceive.

“We’re some of the lucky ones. It only took 4 years, 3 miscarriages, depression, 107 hormone injections, one surgery, two procedures, over 100 suppositories, and several thousand dollars to get our baby,” she writes.

“You might ask how I say that we’re lucky. We’re lucky because we get to have a baby. So many women don’t. Even more go through multiple rounds of fertility treatments to get their baby.”

The blogger says she hopes her “infertility pregnancy announcement” will inspire others to keep trying.

When lamenting the nine babies she has lost previously she adds: “There aren’t blessings in infertility. There are blessings in spite of infertility.”

Of her pregnancy news she says: “What our baby does do is fill us with a love and joy and gratefulness that I never knew possible.”

Since the announcement she has shared photos documenting her pregnancy journey, of clothes for the baby and her growing bump.
