Adele Silva was one of Emmerdale's biggest stars for nearly 20 years, being nominated for awards from best soap actress to sexiest female.

But she turned her back on soap stardom in 2011 and her life now is completely different from her time as Kelly Windsor.

Silva, 42, is mum to eight-year-old Sienna and has a new career as a teacher, coaching the next generation of young stars in their dreams of stage and screen success.

The former Emmerdale star shares photos of her happy family life on Instagram, as well as shots from her work teaching and casting other up and coming stars.

Her stage school is called Young Screen Collective and Silva also works as a casting assistant, but in her Instagram bio she lists herself as "First & foremost Mummy".

As Kelly, her storylines included an affair with her own screen step-brother Scott played by Ben Freeman, as well as liaisons with Ethan Blake, Jimmy King and Rodney Blackstock.

Kelly had various turbulent stints in the Dales between 1993 and 2011, but eventually left for good with son Elliot following a fight with Jimmy - who was Elliot's dad - and his wife, Nicola.

Emmerdale wasn't Silva's only soap role - she has also appeared in EastEnders and, more recently, Hollyoaks in 2015 where she played a relative of Peri Lomax who wanted to adopt the character's baby daughter.

Silva looks to have stayed in touch with some of her Emmerdale co-stars as she recently posted a selfie with Lisa Riley, who stars as Mandy Dingle, and wrote: "I love this lady! @lisajaneriley We had a lovely catch up - didn’t come up for air."

Last year, Silva admitted to The Sun that she would say yes in a heartbeat if Emmerdale ever asked her to return as Kelly.

She said: "I’d definitely go back if they asked me. Obviously Kelly’s son is there and she’s not seen him for years."

Talking about her old friend Riley's character, she continued: "Mandy was Kelly’s best friend and there’s the history she has with Kim Tate. I just love Kim, you always know she’s going to be at the heart of an incredible storyline."

Silva also said she had been "so lucky with the storylines they kept giving me", giving Kelly fans hope that she could one day be seen back in the village and causing chaos again.
