Alex Jones has raved about a stunning beachside cottage in Wales. The One Show host, her husband Charlie Thomson, their three children Kit, Teddy, and Annie, and extended family, spent the bank holiday weekend at a National Trust property on Rhossili Bay Beach.

Anyone who has been to Rhossili in the Gower will have seen the splendidly isolated white house standing in acres of its own space right above the beach. The property, which is called The Old Rectory, is the only building on the world-famous bay and offers a panoramic view of Rhossili Bay and Worms Head Island.

After spending an "idyllic" few days at the sought-after spot, Alex told her 554k followers the view was "something to behold," as she shared a string of snaps, including a sunset that "could rival any other in the world". The 47-year-old then detailed how the family spent most of their time on the beach and sundowners from the garden.

Taking to Instagram, Alex wrote: "I haven’t been to the Gower for years but what an idyllic bank holiday weekend thanks to @nationaltrust at the #rhossilioldrectory. The cottage itself is stylish and welcoming with plenty of room for a large family BUT the view is something to behold, maybe the best view I’ve ever seen!! No joke!

"We played on the beach all day long and enjoyed sundowners from the garden with a sunset that could rival any other in the world. Even in the rain, we found plenty to do and could cosy up inside. It’s an absolute gem."

She continued: "We are members of the @nationaltrust and spend many weekends visiting their beautiful houses and gardens, but, we had no idea that @nationaltrust had over 500 special properties that you can stay in across the UK and by booking, we are all helping to conserve the history and beauty of these stunning places on our doorstep.

"This weekend was kindly #prgifted but, we will try and book again soon if there’s any space! Diolch @ntcymru a @nationaltrust. What a special, special place."

Commenting on the post, one fan wrote: "The Gower is one of my most treasured places." while another added: "Rhosilli my favourite beach on the planet."

As a third commented: "Best beach in the world. That’s on my bucket list and you’ve spurred me on to book!"

The Old Rectory is set on a raised terrace in the centre of the dramatic landscape with uninterrupted views of the sea and the tidal island of Worm's Head. Built in the 1800s, the house has had an intriguing past – from its role as a base for radar workers during the Second World War to starring in the hit television series Torchwood.
