To suggest celebrities don’t have influence would be a vast underestimation of their power.

Take Keeping Up With The Kardasdians icon Kylie Jenner, for example, who has just proven her clout by shaving a billion dollars off one of the biggest social media apps on the planet.

When new mother Kylie, 20, tweeted about how she wasn’t feeling the new update and layout for popular app Snapchat, her comments had a massive effect.

A seemingly innocuous tweet asking her 24.5 million followers ‘sooo does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me… ugh this is so sad.’ was anything but.

The question gained almost 60,000 retweets and really got people talking (even more) about the state of the new Snapchat after the update.

And shortly afterwards, she followed up with: ‘still love you tho snap … my first love,’ yet the damage had seemingly already been done.

The company, according to the Mirror reported that its parent company sank a devastating 6.1% in the aftermath, effectively wiping out $1.3 billion of its market value.

After a petition was launched by one desperate user to get Snapchat to reverse its unfriendly user update, which has already gathered 1.2 million signatures, the company responded to the criticism.

‘We hear you, and appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel. We completely understand the new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many,’ they wrote.

‘By putting everything from your friends in one place, our goal was to make it easier to connect with the people you care about most. The new Friends page will adapt to you and get smarter over time, reflecting who you’re most likely to be Snapping with at that moment. This same personalization is also true of the new Discover, which will adapt to you the more that you use it.’

‘Beginning soon on iOS, and with Android in the coming weeks, we are introducing tabs in Friends and Discover, which will make it easier to find the Stories that you want, when you want them. Once you receive the update, you’ll be able to sort things like Stories, Group Chats, and Subscriptions, allowing you to further customize your own experience on the app.’

Despite the waves of unhappy users offering feedback, it appears Snapchat are defiant in keeping the update and ignoring everyone’s pleas by saying this was ‘just the beginning’ and that they’re dedicated to developing ‘new ways to make the service better for everyone.’

The new update has turned a lot of people, not just Kylle, away from using the social media photo app due to its confusing and unclear interface that no one seems happy getting to grips with.

Even after just having a baby, Stormi Webster, it appears the young star can’t keep out of the spotlight. With Travis Scott declared the father to daughter Stormi, it hasn’t stopped her ex, Tyga, from demanding a paternity test to see if he’s actually the dad.
