Bar Called ‘DeRailed’ Lives Up To Its Name After Train Ploughs Into It

A bar called ‘DeRailed’ has now lived up to its name - after a nearby train car hurtled off the tracks and ploughed into the trackside watering hole.

The incident took place in Charles City, Iowa in the early hours of Tuesday when train crews were moving rail cars and changing tracks.

The train car in question quickly separated, and fell about 45 degrees - where it eventually stopped on the side of the bar.

Police Chief Hugh Anderson says that his force had an understandable sense of humour about the whole thing - with one officer reporting that a train car had ‘derailed into derailed.’

Thankfully no one was injured, but the bar owner is looking at a hefty repair bill - after estimates put the sum of the damage at $10,000.

Charles City is located about 140 miles northwest of Des Moines.

It isn’t clear if the bar is back open for business - but it’s quite the story for thirsty patrons to hear.
