BBC Homes Under the Hammer's Martin Roberts was left disgusted by an unpleasant discovery as he entered a property on today's episode of the show.

The 60-year-old hosted Thursday's episode of the BBC programme alongside Dion Dublin. Martin was also present at the first home featured in the episode.

Initially, the expert was taken with the exterior of the Staffordshire property, but his impression quickly soured upon entering. He said: "The first thing you notice is this overwhelming smell of animal".

"Even just glancing around, there are lots of signs of this place being shared by humans and canines. Downstairs loo has lots of scratch marks."

As Martin continued the tour, he noted that the kitchen "just feels wrong", commenting: "Look at this. Actual dog hairs in the grease above the cooker. That is wild. Well that wasn't very pleasant.", reports the Liverpool Echo.

Despite the initial shock, Martin pointed out that the main issue with the house was cosmetic, making it not too challenging for any new owners to renovate. The home was listed for £90,000 and was sold for £99,500 to recently retired couple, Katie and AJ.

Martin was impressed by the renovation project as they transformed the home into a three-bedroom property, stating it was now valued between £175,000 - £185,000 after the refurbishment.
