BBC One Show presenter left 'screaming in pain' in hospital

A BBC One Show reporter was rushed to hospital after suffering from ‘excruciating’ pain. Lucy Siegle who frequently appears on the BBC One programme revealed to followers that she was suffering from a kidney stone and had been left in agony.

Just before the bank holiday weekend the celebrity, who is now based in Surrey, said she had been left screaming in pain. Lucy said: “Spent the night in A&E with kidney stones. It was brutal. But if you’re going to scream in pain and throw up in public the unflappable and good-humoured @epsom_sthelier emergency staff are the people to do it with. Thanks guys.”

She was treated at the Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Trust and said she was grateful for the help. She is a British environmental journalist who often appears on the current affairs programme as a host.

And now she has given fans an update. One follower asked: “Hope you aren’t suffering too much with your Kidney Stones. I went through it 4 years ago, rushed into hospital and stent fitted. Then several treatments of Lythotripsy later stones battered. Hope it goes well.”

She replied: “Thank you. Very kind. Stone sill in situ. Just had second round of litho. Pain is fine now but obvs that can change quickly. Strange scenario!”

Lucy, 49, previously said how docs discovered she had a large kidney stone and scheduled Lucy in for lithotripsy - an ultrasound treatment that breaks the hard mass down into small particles that the body can get rid of naturally.

Lucy is best known to fans for being a reporter on The One Show, having joined in 2007. She’s also stood in as a guest anchor for the programme several times.

Besides coming up with sustainability advice for The Times, she also co-produced documentary The True Cost for Netflix. The film looks at the effects of fast fashion on poorly paid workers in developing countries, and eventually, the environment.
