Birmingham tower block stand-off as police negotiate with man in flat
Police are negotiating with a man inside a Birmingham tower block following concerns for his welfare. Officers were called to Windsor House, off Jarvis Road, in Erdington around 3am on Tuesday (June 11), after a disturbance was reported.
The police have been at the scene with several crews from West Midlands Fire Service. A team of officers in riot gear entered the building with some leaving a short time later.
Several cordons are in place and the local number 96 bus service is on diversion. A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We're at a block of flats on Jarvis Road, Erdington, amid concerns for the welfare of a man inside a property. We were called to a disturbance at the address just before 3am.

"Specialist officers are speaking to the man, who is believed to be alone in the property. A cordon is in place while officers work to bring the incident to a safe conclusion."
West Midlands Fire Service has several crews stationed around but no one has entered the building concerned. Meanwhile WMFS has said it is a police matter.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were not called to the incident.
