British Columbia Wildfires Threaten Thousands of Homes Near West Kelowna

Flames lit up the horizon in West Kelowna, British Columbia, early on Friday, August 18, as wildfires threatened thousands of homes in the area.

Footage recorded by @susansebastianis shows a line of fire in West Kelowna.

Central Okanagan Emergency Operations said on Friday that evacuation orders and alerts were in place for more than 6,000 homes due to the Clifton/McKinley and McDougall Creek fires.

Unspecified structural damage was confirmed from the McDougall Creek Fire, officials said; a full survey had not yet been taken of the area.
