Yahoo News British ‘Iron Man’ shows off flying suit at TED 2017
A British inventor who built an Iron Man inspired suit, has demonstrated his skills at the prestigious TED conference in Vancouver, Canada.
Madcap inventor, Richard Browning, flew in a circle and hovered a short distance from the ground in front of a large crowd who were captivated by his flight.
According to the creators of the suit, it is capable of propelling wearer much higher and faster than demonstrated.
At the conference Mr Browning said he had to experiment to create a working model and added there were a lot of crashes during the testing phase.
"The whole journey was about trying and failing, and learning from that," he said.
Mr Browning posted a video of his maiden flight in the UK in March and has since had a lot of interest in his sci-fi invention.
He insists the project remains "a bit of fun" and he does not believe it will become a mainstream method of transport.
However he is already getting interest from investors and some military companies who said they had given up on a flight suit until seeing his invention.
"I don't think anyone is going to be going down to Wal-Mart with it or taking anybody to school for quite a while, but the team at Gravity is moving it along," Browning said.
