Charlie Puth has pleaded with concertgoers not to throw things on stage after a number of artists have been physically hurt by the worrying trend.

The latest casualty was country music singer Kelsea Ballerini who was hit in the eye by a bracelet during a live performance in Idaho.

The Peter Pan hit-maker briefly paused the gig as she reacted to the object hitting her before resuming her set.

Taking to Twitter afterwards, Marvin Gaye singer Puth said incidents like this need to stop.

“This trend of throwing things at performers while they are on stage must come to an end,” he penned to his 3.6m followers.

He then went on to highlight other artists such as Bebe Rexha, Ava Max and Pink who have also been the victims of having random objects thrown at them or being approached during their concerts this year.

In the case of Pink, she had someone pelt her with a bag of their dead mother’s ashes.

“It’s disrespectful and very dangerous. Please just enjoy the music I beg of you...” he implored.

Ballerini echoed his sentiments in a post of her own on the micro-blogging site.

“All I care about is keeping everyone safe. If you ever don’t feel safe, please let someone around you know,” she wrote.

Adding: “If anyone’s pushing too much or you just have that gut feeling, just always flag it. Don’t throw things. You know?”
