Classic car owners turn out in force for charity tour of Worcestershire boundary

NEARLY 50 classic cars turned out for an annual tour of the Worcestershire boundary which has raised more than £1,000 for charity.

The Worcestershire County Boundary Classic Car Tour, organised by Stourbridge car fan Mark O'Neill, started from the Gigmill pub, Norton, on April 27 and was the largest so far.

Nearly 50 classic cars took part and the event, a 165-mile drive around the Worcestershire County boundary, raised £1,150 for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb was among those who turned out to see the spectacle.

She said: “This event is fast becoming a big fixture in the local calendar as it goes from strength to strength. I am a big fan and supporter. Mark has done a great job developing it.”

Mark said: "In 2016 I wanted to test a classic car I’d finished renovating. I drew up my Worcestershire County Boundary Classic Car Tour route and asked friends for a charitable donation to join me.”

He said he still tests his renovated cars in the same way and to date his classic car tours have raised more than £6,000 for local and national charities.

This year’s event included prizes including best costume to suit the car and a public vote on the best car, with the town’s MP declaring her favourite a light blue 1960s Alfa Romeo Guilietta owned by Jeremy Humphries.
