Climate Activists Block Roads in Austrian and German Cities

Climate activists blocked roads in Austria and Germany on Monday, April 24, calling on governments to put a stop to new oil drilling.

Footage from Innsbruck in Austria showed a blockade near the Grenobler Bridge. Local media reported that the blockade started at around 7 am local time, and also affected the nearby Haller Strasse.

A similar blockade also stopped traffic in Salzburg on Monday, local media reported.

Climate activists from Letzte Generation and a number of other groups also blockaded roads in Berlin, where German media reported that at least 500 officers had been deployed to prevent or dismantle the protests. Credit: Letzte Generation Osterreich via Storyful
