TV newsreader Clive Myrie has announced that he is set to front a new travel show on BBC Two on May 27. The 59-year-old journalist and broadcaster, who has been working on the news since the nineties, took to social media to share the career update.

Teasing the new programme, which is called Clive Myrie's Caribbean Adventure, the Mastermind presenter posted a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account. “Wagwan, Clive Myrie here, my Caribbean Adventure is coming soon," he said before he gave a wink at the camera and put his head on the desk laughing.

A synopsis for the new programme released by the BBC reads: “Following on from his much loved Italian Road Trip, this time Clive embarks on an epic journey to reconnect with family, explore his own heritage and experience the rich mix of cultures that makes island life so very special.”

After he shared the news on social media Clive’s comments section was flooded with messages of support. One person typed: "Looking forward to it from the best presenter on tv." A second person said: "Looking forward to seeing your travels, at least you'll be going with a smile on your face after we won the 4th." A third commented: "Looking forward to it. Mind, you're one of the freshest winds ever to blow through the BBC studios."

Speaking to the BBC about the show, Clive shared: "This series was very much about trying to tell a little bit of the history of the Caribbean through my family's eyes and the connection it has to me. I'll be unearthing my ancestral roots and reconnecting with family members I didn't even know I had!

"I'll be taking in the vibrant streets of Cuba, the nightlife of Jamaica, the lush landscapes of the Dominican Republic and the beach paradise of Barbados. Look forward to fantastic food, a melange of so many things - chicken, lamb, fish all chucked in together with a rich tapestry of spices and incredible flavours."

Clive Myrie’s Caribbean Adventure begins on Monday, May 27, on BBC Two at 6.30pm. All episodes will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer. For the latest TV and showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.
