Ignoring the officer’s insistence that she tell no one, Carla than warns Jenny that the police are investigating Stephen. The Underworld boss then begs Jenny not to go to Thailand as she could be heading out of the country with a murderer.
Tim is in danger
On Monday, Tim finds himself distracted when a passing mention from Brian of Stephen’s interest in the canal dredging project gets the cogs whirring.
After heading down to the towpath, Tim starts poking about in the water, all of which results in a corpse’s hand bobbing to the surface.
Rushing back to the cab, Tim calls 999 to report the finding of a dead body. But the phone cuts out and any attempt to call back is curtailed when Stephen climbs into the back seat and tries to strangle Tim with a tie.
Tim then tries to escape, but trips and ends up getting knocked unconscious by Stephen who clobbers him with a brick. Following this shock attack, Tim will be left fighting for his life in the boot of his car, which Stephen douses in petrol.
Corrie isn’t yet revealing whether Stephen is set to kill Tim, but he will be seen returning home to wash away the blood and fuel before confirming with the airline that he’ll be flying the following day.
But not before he tricks an oblivious Michael into transferring the balance of Underworld’s account into a bogus one he’s set up.
Unaware of what’s happened to Tim, Sally is under the misapprehension that he’s gone to the County match with Kevin. But panic starts to mount mid-week for Sal when Kev tells her that Tim didn’t actually go to the football with him and Kirk.
And those fears grow exponentially when Elaine reports that the Platts believe Stephen killed anyone who he considered to be an obstacle. Realising that Tim was one of those people who stood in Stephen’s way, Sally begins to feel physically sick.
The police take action
Following Tim’s 999 call, the police will be seen on Monday lifting the roof box from the brackish canal waters – with Craig and DS Swain left disconcerted when they find that it contains human remains.
Swain subsequently learns on Wednesday that Stephen has brought forward his flight from Manchester to Bangkok and hurries to the airport in the hope of intercepting him. But will she get there in time?
Audrey makes an accusation
Sarah is set to leave the Platts stunned on Wednesday when she breaks the news that not only has Stephen been defrauding Audrey but drugging Carla too.
Stephen, meanwhile, is trying to leave his flat, only to get attacked by Peter. Audrey then arrives and intervenes, sending Peter packing in the process. Initially, Stephen is grateful for his mum’s actions, but his relief disintegrates when Audrey accuses him of stealing her house. How will he respond?
How will the week end?
Friday is when events reach their climax as the net closes in on Stephen, thanks to the residents of the Street realising that they once again have a murderer in their midst.
Essentially, the hunt is on to find Stephen before he can add to his homicide tally. But is it already too late?
Coronation Street airs on ITV Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and streams on ITVX.
