Coronation Street fans were left doing a double-take as a snap posted by Charlie Wrenshall initially sparked concern. The actor has been winning praise for his portrayal of Liam Connor in the ITV soap.

As viewers know, the teen character has faced a rough ride over the past few months at the hands of Weatherfield High bully Mason Radcliffe. Liam has been seen being subject to intense bullying by the group with Mason even pulling a knife on Liam during one of his cruel bullying sessions.

There were then more heartbreaking scenes when the infuriating bullying campaign later resulted in the heartbreaking discovery that Liam was contemplating taking his own life, leaving his terrified mum, Maria Windass, watching her son's every move, even going so far as to set up a camera in their home.

While justice has somewhat prevailed with Mason told in court that he would have to face a custodial sentence as he had been convicted of possessing a knife before, Liam's suffering has continued.

While he has returned to school, during Monday night's (May 6) trip to Weatherfield, Liam and Joseph Brown settle down to watch a film. When Joseph asked Liam if things have improved at school, Liam struggled to breathe and reached for his inhaler. Joseph urged him to tell Maria about his panic attacks but Liam refused as he didn’t want to worry her.

Later, after leaving Joseph's uncle Paul Foreman's flat having stolen his pills, Liam was left alone and feeling a panic attack coming on. Liam took out Paul’s pills and was later seen lying unconscious after taking some of the tablets to try to manage his anxiety.

He was later found by a distraught Maria after Paul's husband Billy Mayhew alerted her to the missing pills. Maria's husband Gary eventually arrived at the hospital and was confronted by Maria, who wondered where he'd been, lying to his wife having been having his latest heart-to-heart with ex-Sarah Barlow.

Following the scenes, teen actor Charlie took to Instagram with a behind-the-scenes snap in which he could be seen lying in a hospital bed hooked up to an oxygen mask and over monitoring machines. He also shared other images which showed him filming alongside on-screen mum Samia Longchambon.

Captioning the post, Charlie wrote: "BTS [clapperboard emoji] #coronationstreet #corrie #liamconnor #charliewrenshall," before his followers were quick to respond with concern having caught a glimpse of what could be a worrying snap if it were real life and not soap life.
