Coroner: No further details to be released in student death at Bucknell University

Apr. 1—Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo said Monday he would not be releasing the cause or manner of death of a Bucknell University student over the weekend.

Adamo said the death of Christian Samay on campus on Saturday afternoon is still under investigation, but he would not release any further information out of respect for Samay's family. The circumstances of Samay's death are not suspicious, according to officials.

Classes for students were canceled on Monday and a series of counselors and campus chaplains were made available to students, according to a statement from University President John Bravman on Sunday.

"Please know that the safety and security of our students are our utmost priorities," Bravman wrote to campus community members. "I want to reassure you that we are taking every step possible to support our students during this difficult time. Counseling services are available for any student who may need support, and our staff and faculty are here to provide guidance and assistance as needed."

Bravman continued, "We remain committed to transparent communication, and will take to heart the lessons we can learn, as an institution, from these events. Your trust and partnership are invaluable to us, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the well-being of our community."

An alert was sent out by the university to members of the campus community at 1:47 p.m. Saturday about the investigation at 78 University Ave., the location of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

Christian Samay was scheduled to graduate this spring.
