Cottonwood River Floods in Lyon County, Kansas

The Cottonwood River in Emporia in Lyon County, Kansas, overflowed following heavy rain and storms in May.

The river’s water level was at about 32 feet on Thursday, May 9, the National Weather Service said, and was expected to rise to 34 feet by Friday, May 10.
