A couple who born in the same hospital on the same day have tied the knot 50 years later – and claim that they were ‘destined to be together.’

Alison Blackwell and James Hodges had no idea that they would end up together when they were born only metres apart at the Berkeley Hospital in Gloucestershire in 1967.

The pair were in the same class at Cam Hopton Primary School, and a official school photo shows them just feet apart.

James grew up to become a wool technician, while Allison got married at the age of 21 before divorcing some 10 years later.

But they lost contact when James moved schools at the age of eight, with James growing up to become a wool technician, while Allison got married at the age of 21 before divorcing some 10 years later.

The pair were finally reunited decades later when James messaged Allison online to ask her birth date.

After exchanging a series of messages, the pair eventually met up again in 2012 – and it wasn’t long before a relationship began to blossom.

‘He said hi and asked me when my birthday was – obviously knowing full well when it was,’ said Alison.

‘We arranged to meet a few days after Christmas and then started seeing each other soon after.

‘We’ve been together ever since.’

James proposed in September 2015 – and the pair are now married after tying the knot on February 4 at a ceremony attended by their old school mates.

Allison, who now works as a pub manager, said: ‘People say it’s destiny that we ended up together because we have so many connections. It is absolutely destined to be.

‘James hasn’t stopped grinning since the wedding.’

James added: ‘I just remember her really kind smile. That always stayed with me – and it’s still the same today.’

Adorable stuff – many happy returns, guys!
