Dele Alli injury latest: Tottenham hopeful midfielder will be fit for Manchester City clash

Dele Alli is being assessed by Tottenham’s medical team in the hope he could recover in time for Monday’s clash with Manchester City.

The midfielder has not played since last month’s Carabao Cup win on penalties agunst Watford due to a hamstring problem but there is some hope at Spurs that he may be able to play a part at Wembley.

Alli still believes Tottenham can improve on their performance in recent seasons, despite the money spent by City and Liverpool and the lack of transfer action at Tottenham, who are building a new stadium expected to cost close to £1billion.

Spurs did, however, manage to hang on to key players such as Alli, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen during the summer and Alli said: “We’ve got such a great team, everyone gets on so well so it would have been sad for anyone to leave. We’ve been working together for a few years now and have such a strong understanding, so I still think we can hit new heights as a team.”

Before they take on City, Spurs were set to announce that their next two home games in the League — against Chelsea and Southampton — would take place at Wembley, due to delays at the new ground.
