Yahoo News Dennis Quaid to play serial killer in new Paramount+ true crime series
Dennis Quaid is set to play a serial killer in the new Paramount+ true crime series Happy Face.
Quaid will star as Canadian-American serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson (aka the Happy Face Killer) in the series which is based on the true story of the killer's daughter Melissa Moore.
According to Radio Times, Quaid is on board to star as Jesperson, who was given the moniker Happy Face after sending letters – on which he had drawn smiley faces – to the authorities and media.

Taking inspiration from Moore's podcast of the same name, the series will also draw inspiration from Moore and M Bridget Cook's book Shattered Silence.
Using Moore's story as a "jumping-off point", the official description of the series says it will take a look at how her "father contacts her to take credit for another victim, pulling her into an extraordinary investigation of her father and his crimes.
"As she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families, she must face a reckoning of her own identity."

Production on the series is reported to begin later this year with the eight episodes set to premiere in 2025. Welcome to Chippendales actress Annaleigh Ashford will star as Moore.
When Moore was just 15 years old she found out that her own father was the serial killer Happy Face – a man responsible for the murder of at least eight women. Following the revelation, Moore changed her name and kept that part of her life a secret.
Jesperson is currently incarcerated in Oregon, where he is serving multiple life sentences without parole for his crimes.
The true crime series will mark Quaid's second Paramount+ role having recently starred in Lawmen: Bass Reeves as Sherrill Lynn.
