Drivers who have 'three' popular cars urged to visit petrol forecourt

A driving expert has told Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Asda drivers which cars they need to be turning up to ensure the most economical drive and fuel-efficient cars. The price of petrol across UK supermarkets continues to rise here in the UK.

The spike in prices across Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Asda forecourts, as well as BP, Texaco, Shell, Esso and more, has left motoring groups angry. But some experts have spoken out with handy boosts for those purchasing petrol and diesel.

Matt Goodwin, from the High Peak Autos YouTube channel, has revealed the most common and most economical used cars, starting with a Renault Clio, saying: "We've got a Renault Clio 1.5DCi. This engine isn't bad, they [Renault] has used it in loads of stuff over the years.

"They have a cambelt due [to be replaced] every five years but it's capable of over 60mpg. This era of Clio, which ran from 2012 onwards, is quite a good car. The interiors are good, they're quite nice to drive, and I actually think they look cool as well.

"They're really cheap to run, and I imagine the road tax is low as well." He also backed the Citreon C4, saying: "I seem to be a Citroen fan all of a sudden, but the Citroen C4 Cactus is actually a car I'm quite fond of. I did a review with one a couple of years ago and I do like the whole bath mat thing you get stuck on the side, it's quite quirky.

"This is a 1.2 petrol which is the same engine that they use in the Peugeot 208 and it uses a wet belt, which can be a headache. What you want is the 1.6 diesel with a manual, not an automatic." His third and final pick was the Audi A3 TDi.

In reply, a driver said: "Matt, I bought a Golf 1.9SDi 2001 Mk4 about 4 years ago on eBay. It was in Totnes in Devon, at a garage, clutch knackered. It looked very clean in the body though. Messaged the young lady who owned it, confirmed no corrosion. Won it for £265, rang the garage, £350 up front for a new clutch and oil and filter change.

" Went down on the train, drove it back to Birmingham. Four years on it has 208k on the odometer and if I used Shell V Power diesel I get about 68mpg on a long run. It is like an old friend to me. I went up to Liverpool last week to pick up some tyres for your "£1,000 Phaeton" and was able to get the four 19" tyres in the back. Great workhorse."

"Matt, you are incredible at what you do and interesting at what you deliver. I dont understand why anyone would think it okay to follow you home and then walk up your drive to speak to you, a step too far, you are entitled to some privacy. Love the video," a second agreed.
