The annual Darwen Scooter Weekend came back to town last weekend to celebrate lovers of scooter riding with a custom show and ride-in.

Organised by Trevor Maxfield and Simon Povey, both of Screaming Dead Scooter Club, the Darwen Scooter Weekend was hailed a success, with venues expressing their interest in next year's event already.

Darwen Scooter Weekend ran from Friday, June 28, to Saturday, June 29, with a group ride of hundreds of scooter lovers.

A spokesperson for the event said: "We were very pleased with the turnout as it was bigger than last year, so the event is growing.

"We would like to publicly thank our sponsors, especially Darwen Town Council. Without them, the event would not be able to go on in its current form.

"After picking up all the buckets and money boxes we have collected a grand total of £600 to donate to Darwen charity Derwent Hall who provide meals and social care for the elderly.

"Several venues have already expressed interest in next year's Darwen Scooter Weekend and will be starting to book acts in the near future.

"Thanks to all who kindly contributed."

Derwent Hall Day Centre is part of Darwen Old People's Welfare, which is a registered charity that aims to promote the welfare of people in the district.

Entertainment such as live bands and DJs played across multiple venues throughout the town, featuring indoor and outdoor stages on both the Friday and Saturday.

Acts such as The Itch, Brad Soul, and The Tall Faces played at venues such as The Polished Knob, Artisan Cafe and Wine Bar, and Bridge Street Sports and Social Club.
