Fred Perry Glasgow wants photos from your youth - here is why

Glasgow locals have the opportunity to share and archive photos of when they were younger at a Museum of Youth Culture event.

The free Show & Tell event, in partnership with Fred Perry, aims to capture diverse histories of growing up in Britain and will contribute to an exhibition in the Fred Perry Camden store by year-end.

The event will take place on May 25 at Fred Perry Glasgow from 10am to 4pm.

The year-long collaboration forms part of the museum's Grown Up in Britain collection in which the public is invited to submit photographs, ephemera, clothing, flyers, tickets, and other memorabilia that capture moments from their youth.

Pieces collected through this collaboration will add to the museum’s existing archive.

Jon Swinstead, founder of the Museum of Youth Culture, said: “Whilst there is much that unites us across generations, there are subtle differences in how youth culture expresses itself across regions in the UK - so a punk in Glasgow looks different to one in Brighton and it's important we represent these divergences in subculture.

"We are excited to be taking the museum on tour across Britain and see what new stories we can discover, and Fred Perry is the perfect cultural partner for this.

"Bringing MOYC to l regions across the country is important as ultimately we want the museum to represent as many diverse histories of growing up as possible."

Attendees of the Show & Tell event will also enjoy a free talk by an expert from the museum’s network from 2pm to 3pm.
