Glastonbury Festival organisers have excitedly revealed that the 2024 event will kick off with an awe-inspiring drone display.

In a post on the official Glastonbury X/Twitter account, the team announced: "A drone show will open Glastonbury 2024 at 10.30pm on Wednesday June 26th, ahead of the traditional fireworks. Best views from the Pyramid field get there early! ".

This year's festival goers can expect a thrilling start to their Glastonbury experience as the drone show is set to be a fresh addition, diverging from the usual opening act of fireworks which typically light up the sky around 11pm on the Wednesday for those who arrive early. The iconic hill by the Park Stage has traditionally been the prime spot for attendees to enjoy the spectacle.

Speculation among festival enthusiasts suggests that the introduction of the drone show may be a strategic move to better manage the flow of the crowd.

The previous year, in 2022, the night sky was illuminated by a grand fireworks display that erupted over both the Park Stage hill and the area above the tipi village, where a giant wooden phoenix was ceremoniously set ablaze.
