An eagle-eyed shopper noticed a slight spelling mistake when they recently visited the Morrisons branch in High Wycombe.

The customer, who has asked to be nameless, went to the store along Temple End in the afternoon/early evening on Saturday, June 22.

He had been in the area visiting family and decided to pop into the shop before making his way back home, which is in Aylesbury.

After he purchased a handful of items, he noticed that ‘High Wycombe’ was incorrectly spelt on his receipt.

It instead read ‘High Wycome’.

The customer, who was with a member of his family at the time, had asked to see their receipt to double-check to see if it was an anomaly.

He then realised that his relative’s receipt had also spelled Wycombe wrong.

Speaking to the Free Press, the man, who is in his 20s, said: “I thought it was quite funny to be honest.

“I don’t recall ever going into the Morrisons in High Wycombe before so the first time I do, I noticed the spelling error.

“I was checking the receipt to see if everything I had purchased added up correctly when I was leaving the store, to find that the ‘b’ in High Wycombe was missing.”

Morrisons have been made of the error and told the Free Press: “There appears to have been a data error following a recent system update - we're really sorry to our customers in High Wycombe and have now corrected this."
