Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City will be moving timeslots for the last episode of the year tonight (December 14).

As we all know, the BBC medical drama usually follows straight after EastEnders at 7.50pm, but will be airing at the earlier time of 7.30pm on Tuesday evening.

EastEnders will be airing an extended episode of 45- minutes immediately afterwards at 8.15pm, also deviating from its Tuesday norm.

This will allow EastEnders not to clash with ITV rival soap Coronation Street, which is airing every night this week. There is no EastEnders episode on Friday evening (December 17).

Tonight's Christmas-themed Holby episode will see fans treated to some exciting twists, with two characters actually making a surprise appearance.

While one face from the past will return to Holby, the other will reappear in a slightly different guise, but fans need to tune in to learn who is back on our screens – and why.

Also ahead in Holby tonight, Amelia and Eli are left devastated when they are told that their pregnancy isn't viable.
