Idalia Gives Optimistic Florida Man Hammock Situation He 'Always Wanted'

An optimistic man in St Petersburg, Florida, was able to have the hammock over water that he’s “always wanted,” on Wednesday, August 30, thanks to storm surge from Hurricane Idalia.

Anthony Vance told Storyful he was “just a guy making the best of a disaster” when he hopped in his hammock to lounge over the floodwater on his property.

“The yard was completely flooded in front and back of my house during Hurricane Idalia, but at least I had my hammock swing over the water,” he said, adding, “life was good.”

Storm surge from Idalia flooded many parts of St Petersburg, local news reported. The storm made landfall at Keaton Beach in Florida’s Big Bend region, about 200 miles north of St Petersburg, as a Category 3 hurricane on Wednesday. Credit: Anthony Vance via Storyful
