I’m A Celebrity 2016: Celebrity campmates set to face more bugs than EVER before

The unsuspecting campmates heading into this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle are set to endure some of the most challenging conditions yet, as a show producer has confirmed it will be creepy-crawlies galore.

As well as the natural environment, which is home to every creature and insect known to man, contestants will face more than half a million live bugs during the series’ bushtucker trials – witchetty grub for breakfast, anyone?

250,000 cockroaches, 2.5m mealworms, 500 rats and 20 small crocodiles were shipped into camp in 2013, but the ITV reality show’s trial boss has promised even more gruelling insect-themed challenges than ever before.

He told The Mirror: “We have half a million bugs, the most we’ve ever ordered.”

Other recent reports have suggested that the unluckiest celebrities will be invited to chow down on crocodile vagina as well as all of the usual delicacies, including mealworms, witchetty grubs, fermented eggs and fish eyes.

But who will be in the hot seat for I’m A Celeb’s exclusive dining experience?

According to The Sun, Team GB’s hockey hero Sam Quek is the newest recruit in the jungle line-up, with a source claiming that she “ticks all the boxes” as a “hugely successful Olympian” who is “gorgeous to boot.”

Along with the squad 13 player, there have been a whole host of famous faces appearing in the campfire flames of speculation, including McFly’s Tom Fletcher, former campmate Craig Charles, Cheryl’s ex Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews and Lauren Hutton, Michael Jackson’s former doctor Conrad Murray, Absolutely Fabulous star Helen Lederer, Team GB Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, and many, MANY more.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here returns to our screens in November.
