I'm A Celebrity bosses prepare for potential 'camp evacuation' with heavy rain forecast

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers are used to seeing campmates soaking up the sun in the Australian jungle while donning swimming trunks and bikinis.

But fans of the show – once again co-hosted by Ant and Dec – could be seeing more of their favourite celebs’ cagoules than their curves because heavy rain is forecast – which could lead to an evacuation.

Show bosses are said to have been forced to come up with a contingency plan after the inclement weather was forecast for the upcoming week in Queensland.

A host of celebrities, including former Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, The Saturdays singer Vanessa White and Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine, are due to enter camp on Sunday when the new series kicks off – but the launch may be a damp squib.

A source told The Sun: “We are preparing for all eventualities.

“Provisions are in place for soggy conditions and campmates are equipped with waterproofs to wear should it rain heavily. It’s just a shame for viewers back home in the UK who like to see the celebs enjoying the warm weather.”

The famous I’m A Celeb shower scenes have become a hotly-anticipated part of the show as the stars strip down to their swimming trunks and bikinis under a natural waterfall – and bosses are said to be hoping they won’t be affected by the weather.

The source added: “There is also more chance of the women donning their bikinis for the waterfall shower scenes when it’s warm, so they’re hoping it will brighten up as soon as possible.”

But heavy rain is not just an issue for campmates getting wet – it could also lead to an increase in spiders roaming around.

Dr Robert Raven told the Daily Mirror: “In the past we’ve had early rain and nothing. Just really dry summers. But this summer, the rain is allowing the whole system to crank up again.

“People should check everywhere.

“If you pick up your towel, the next thing you know you could have a huntsman on your face. A lot of spiders are pretty harmless, but redbacks are of particular concern.”

Amir Khan, Rebekah Vardy, Georgia Toffolo, Stanley Johnson, Dennis Wise, Shappi Khorsandi, and Jack Maynard complete this year’s I’m A Celeb line-up.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! kicks off on November 19 on ITV.
