AN ISLE of Wight distillery has won three prestigious awards at an international competition.

The Island Spirits Distillery (ISD), which makes Isle of Wight gin and Rocken End Rum, clinched three medals at this year’s International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).

The distillery’s signature gin, Island Spirit Gin, was awarded a silver medal, just months after winning a bronze medal at the London Spirits Competition.

It was celebrated for its classic blend of local botanicals, capturing the Island’s “fresh summer breeze”.

The ISD says its complex, yet balanced flavour profile, makes it a favourite among gin enthusiasts.

The Island business’ Quarr Abbey Gin also won a medal, as did its recently launched Rocken End Dark Spiced Rum.

The Quarr Abbey Gin, infused with botanicals, honey and apple sourced from the Quarr Abbey gardens, and the RockenEnd Dark Spiced Rum, spiced with spices grown in Ventnor and a nod to the Island’s smuggling past, both earned bronze medals.

“These spirits have been highlighted for their unique characteristics and the stories they tell through their tastes,” said distiller Cris Jackman.

"These awards not only reinforce our passion for distilling, but also motivate us to continue innovating and elevating our craft.

"We are thrilled to see our spirits recognised on such an esteemed global platform."
