What, how and why?

Wearing her heart on her sleeve, the I'm A Celebrity star opened up about the experience that completely changed her life.

She told her campmates: "I had a certain experience where I almost lost my eldest daughter. And she drowned and we couldn't save her.

"We tried really hard. She was trapped under like a little side-by-side that we ride around our pond. This is in 2017, so she's like eight or nine."

Reliving the moment, she added: "My father-in-law, my mother-in-law, me and my husband we run to jump in to save her. And you kind of think in this moment, 'This isn't real. She's gonna pop up.' This isn't real.

"I could feel her arm and I'm jerking it but I couldn't get her up as it's a pretty heavy machine... You know logically she can't be underwater that long."

The singer praised her mother-in-law for calling 911 straight away and she recalled the moment they could hear the sirens coming towards them.

As help was on the way, Spears revealed her daughter "was not alive".

She said: "She was caught in a safety netting. And when they got there, she was not alive. They took her from me, incubated her, immediately.

"This is the hard part, I heard my mother in law - I'd thrown up on myself and everything because of the adrenaline. And then I heard her call my mom and say, 'Lynne we've lost Maddie.'"

But three seconds later, the firefighter revealed her daughter Maddie had a pulse and immediately she was airlifted to hospital.
