Jedward pelted with bottles during gig for University of Lincoln

Jedward narrowly escaped injury after they had bottles thrown at them during a performance for the University of Lincoln’s student night.

The X Factor rejects – John and Edward Grimes – were almost forced to halt their show after one gig-goer decided to launch three water bottles at them during their show at the Engine Room in Lincoln as part of the university’s Quack night.

The Lincolnshire Echo reported that the culprit was eventually escorted out of the concert for their actions.

One student later appeared to take responsibility for the incident, tweeting: ‘Kicked out for throwing three bottles at Jedward. Worth it.’

But the tweet was soon deleted after other University of Lincoln students lambasted the culprit, demanding he showed more respect to the brothers.

James Brooks, chief executive officer at the Student’s Union, said: ‘The Engine Shed is appalled by the behaviour that took place at last night’s Quack and apologises unreservedly to Jedward for the unacceptable treatment that they experienced.

‘The students involved in throwing plastic bottles have been identified, and the situation was dealt with swiftly and professionally by the Engine Shed staff, we are now investigating the incident with other agencies as a matter of urgency.

‘The bottles were plastic and although no injuries were sustained to either John or Edward, the behaviour is unacceptable, and will be dealt with accordingly by the Students’ Union and the University.’
