Katie Price could face investigation for allegedly flouting Muslim law sunbathing topless in Maldives

Katie Price is no stranger to causing a stir but she may have landed herself in hot water over this.

It has been reported that the glamour model – formerly known as Jordan – could be investigated by authorities after she sunbathed topless in the Maldives. The tropical nation in the Indian Ocean is an Islamic country and Sharia law states nudity is strictly forbidden.

Katie made the surprising revelation on Loose Women.

The 38-year-old star was papped by photographers flouting the law, as she frolicked in the sea and on the beach in the luxury holiday destination topless. Katie also shared a number of pictures to her 1.4million Instagram followers in which she posed on the beaches in the exotic resort.

A Maldives Police Service spokesman told the Sun: “This is against the law and we take these allegations very seriously.”

Katie captioned this image on Instagram: ‘love It here’.

The ‘Loose Women’ favourite is on holiday with her children, 14-year-old son Harvey, Jett, three, and Bunny, two, Junior, 11, and Princess, nine, and has shared a series of happy holiday snaps from their days relaxing on the stunning beaches.

But bikinis and revealing clothing, that shows anything below the elbows, knees or shoulders, is banned. Sharia law also prohibits public displays of affection and Maldives’ government’s website warns travellers not to flout local laws.

It advises that “dress is generally informal but you should be sensitive to local dress standards when visiting non-resort islands.”

It goes on: “Nudism and topless sunbathing are not allowed anywhere, including on resort islands.”

And the news comes days after Katie was criticised for sharing pictures of her nine-year-old daughter Princess posing provocatively.

One of her followers wrote: “Beautiful girl but far to suggestive for a child. Sorry but this is too much!”

Another said: “This is REALLY inappropriate photo to post on a public place of a 9 yr old. Why the hell is she pouting in a dress open like that?!”

However, others insisted it was an “innocent” image.

One wrote: “She looks beautiful Katie. These haters are just attention seekers! Your daughter is stunning and they’re just jealous. Hope Maldives as amazing as you as your beautiful family hoped.”

Do you think people have a right to question Katie’s actions?
