Yahoo News Kent roadworks on M20 and A2 to avoid this week including overnight closures
Drivers will need to contend with another series of closures on the M20 throughout the week, as well as works on the A2 and A21. Following weekend closures as part of the scheduled National Emergency Area Retrofit (NEAR) rollout, the M20 will close in both directions once again tonight (Monday, June 24).
The motorway will shut between Junction 2, for the A20 and Brands Hatch, and Junction 6 for Blue Bell Hill to allow the necessary traffic management systems to be implemented for the installation of new emergency zones. Full details on these works can be found here.
Meanwhile, closures will also take place each weeknight on the M20 eastbound between Junction 4 and Junction 6 for resurfacing. Each night, this stretch of the motorway will shut from 8pm to 6am, with traffic diverted via the the A228, M2 and A229. This will then be followed by weeknight closures of the westbound carriageway from Junction 6 to Junction 4 between Monday, July 1 and Saturday, July 13.

Roadworks will also be taking place on the A2 between Canterbury and Whitfield throughout the week. The county’s major motorways including the M2, M25 and M26 will see overnight closures as well.

Monday, June 24
The A2 eastbound will close between Wincheap and Whitfield from 8pm to 6am for surface works.
The A2 westbound Junction A2018 will close between the entry and exit slips from 10pm to 5am for VRS replacement works. The entry slip will also close during this time.
The M20 eastbound will close between Junction 4 and Junction 6 from 8pm to 6am for surface works.
The M20 Junction 11a entry slip will close from 8pm to 6am for horticulture works.
The M20 westbound will close from Junction 6 to Junction 2, including the M26 to Junction 2a, from 8pm to 6am for improvement works.
The M20 eastbound will close from Junction 2 to Junction 5 from 10pm to 6am for improvement works.
The M26 eastbound will close between Junction 2a and the M20 from 10pm and 6am for improvement works.
Tuesday, June 25
The A2 eastbound will close between Wincheap and Whitfield from 8pm to 6am for surface works.
The A2 westbound Junction A2018 will close between the entry and exit slips from 10pm to 5am for VRS replacement works. The entry slip will also close during this time.
The A21 northbound to the M25 clockwise Junction 5 link road will close from 10pm to 5am for surveying works.
The M20 eastbound will close between Junction 4 and Junction 6 from 8pm to 6am for surface works.
The M20 westbound Junction 11 exit and entry slips will close from 8pm to 6am for maintenance.
The M20 eastbound Junction 13 entry slip will close between 9pm and 6am for technology works.
The M25 clockwise will close between Junction 5 and Junction 6 from 10pm and 5am for survey works.
The M26 westbound will close from Junction 2a to the M25 clockwise Junction 5 from 10pm and 5am for survey works. The M26 westbound Junction 2a entry slip will also close during this time.
Wednesday, June 26
The A2 will close in both directions between Wincheap and Whitfield from 8pm to 6am for surface works.
The A2 westbound Junction A2018 will close between the entry and exit slips from 10pm to 5am for VRS replacement works. The entry slip will also close during this time.

The A2 eastbound Upper Harbledown exit slip will close between 8pm and 6am for surface works.
The A2 westbound Dunkirk exit slip will close between 8pm and 6am for surface works.
