Lego workshops and Brick History Exhibition coming to Gloucester

Brick History Exhibition, will run from Saturday, June 29 until Sunday, October 6, and will give LEGO® fans of all ages the chance to travel back in time to see historic events and people from the past

A new exhibition which recreates iconic moments in history using LEGO bricks, is coming soon to the Museum of Gloucester. The Brick History Exhibition, will run from Saturday, June 29 until Sunday, October 6, and will give LEGO fans of all ages the chance to travel back in time to see historic events and people from the past.

They’ll be able to witness the brilliance of Mozart as he composes one of his greatest works and find out more about the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, who led the American civil rights movement. Visitors will be able to learn more about the origins of the universe with the reconstruction of the Big Bang and see scientific breakthroughs like the discovery of DNA, space exploration and the rise of the mobile phone.

They will also get a chance to marvel at miniatures like Titanic and the record-breaking Concorde recreated using LEGO bricks, to the intricate wonders of historical palaces and an impressive 1.5m square castle bustling with activity.

Head of Culture and Leisure at Gloucester City Council, Louisa Davies said: “We’re delighted to welcome this exhibition as we know there are a lot of keen Lego fans in the city, especially after the success of the Roman Gloucester in Lego bricks display. The Brick History Exhibition is not only a chance for visitors to have fun seeing these fantastic creations but to think and learn more about some of the most significant events in history.”

  • Little Brick Builders: Every Friday from July 5 – October 4, from 10am to 12pm.

  • Bigger Brick Builders: Every Saturday from July 6 – October 5 from 10am to 12pm.

  • Inventing with LEGO® Club: July 6 and September 7. There are two sessions a day, from 1 pm to 2pm and 2:30pm to 3:30pm.

  • Printing with LEGO® : July 18, from 2pm to 3pm.

  • History of Buildings in Gloucester, with city architect Andrew Armstrong: July 18, from 5pm to 7pm.

  • Creating Patches with LEGO® : July 27, from 3pm to 4pm.

  • Upcycling Clothing and Accessories with LEGO® : August 3, from 3pm to 4pm.

  • Build and Animate: Create Your Own LEGO® Robot Puppet: August 10, from 3pm to 4pm.

  • Build and Wear: Create Your Own LEGO® Head Mask: August 17, from 3pm to 4pm.

  • Kids ‘n’ Cupcakes: LEGO® Inspired Cake Decorating: August 24, from 3pm to 4pm.

  • Coffee ‘n’ Cupcakes: LEGO® Inspired Cake Decorating: 31 August, 3pm to 4pm.
