Married at First Sight Australia spoilers follow.

Married at First Sight Australia star Collins Christian has set the record straight over fan claims he is "acting" on the show.

The groom is currently appearing on the latest series of the Australian reality show, matched with bride Natalie Parham. However, he's been criticised and accused of "acting" by some viewers, following his reactions during the first dinner party and a commitment ceremony which aired on E4 last night (March 11).

"I am not a planted actor, let me get that straight…. I'm not an actor, I'm not anything, I'm well aware I do come across a bit…" Collins told the Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Collins also shared his feelings that in hindsight, he felt at times he was "coming across as fake, dismissive, [and] not there for the right reasons".

In an interview with Yahoo Australia, the reality TV star also explained how he came to be a part of the show.

"People have said, 'Oh you're an actor, we saw you audition last year'. Yeah, I'll come out and say right now I've been approached for MAFS three times and this was the one where I went all the way," he said.

Collins clarified that while he'd been approached by Married At First Sight Australia producers for the past three years, he had never applied himself.

He added that he almost starred in the 2023 series.

"Last year, [I] made it to the very end where I've gotten the call saying, 'Pack your things, we've found you a wife, it's time to go'," he said. "And then, a week before, I get told, 'Look Collins, unfortunately, your wife has pulled out'."

It seemed to be third time lucky for the reality TV star, who made the cast for this year's series, with things falling into place after relocating from Western Australia to Sydney.

"Literally two or three weeks into moving into Sydney, 'Hey Collins, how are ya? Married at First Sight here, we're wanting to know...'

Collins said he was "really reluctant" at first, because of what had happened with his appearance falling through the previous year.

"But they always say we can't give certainty, but we're really hopeful that it will go all the way," he explained. "And here we are, yeah!"

Despite first hitting it off during their vows on their wedding day, viewers have seen relations between Collins and Natalie grow increasingly strained.

The two quit the show during the first dinner party following an argument, where Collins accused Natalie of "bad-mouthing" their honeymoon for its lack of romance.

The pair then decided to give their marriage another go, with Natalie moving into an apartment near Collins to work on their relationship.

However, during the most recent commitment ceremony, Natalie revealed she "didn't trust" her groom as she felt he was only telling her things she wanted to hear and not acting on his actions.

When it came to the decision, Collins opted to stay, with Natalie voting to leave. Per the rules of the experiment, the couple now have another week to work on their relationship before the next commitment ceremony.
