MAFS UK's Jay Howard talks being an "inspiration" for disability representation

Married at First Sight UK star Jay Howard has opened up about being an "inspiration" for disability representation.

Jay appeared on last year's edition of the popular dating series where she was married to her now ex-partner Luke Worley before he was kicked off the show.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Jay, who was born without part of her left arm, said she was "proud" to speak about her disability on the show.

"Yeah, I'm just really proud of myself that I've been able to be given the chance to speak about disability but in a good way, like a good representation," she said.

She continued: "I'm a very open person anyway, I want people to ask the questions that nobody dares ask, because I don't get offended. I understand that some people that do have limb differences can get offended. But I'm very open and I'm more than happy to anybody's questions that they might have.

"But just to show how it is that we live on a day-to-day life and it doesn't really affect us in any way. We're just a bit unfortunate of not having the same as everyone else as people with a limb difference. It doesn't mean that we can't do certain things. It just means that it takes a little bit longer."

Describing the feedback she'd received since appearing on the show, Jay said: "I've had a lot of people that have said that I've helped them in that respect. I didn't really see myself as inspiration ever. I just see myself as a normal person. I've had a lot of people that have been really appreciative of like, any tips, just something that they can relate to speak about moving forward. It's been really nice."
